LA BARRAN NIGHT CLUB MYKONOS

An exceptionally distinctive project with numerous challenges and constraints due to its location within the traditional settlement of Mykonos, requiring respect for Cycladic vernacular architecture while integrating contemporary trends and modern-day needs. The architectural approach was based on a modern interpretation of elasticity and curvature in form, introducing a sense of movement and sculptural spontaneity within the space — characteristics deeply rooted in the essence of traditional Cycladic architecture.

Our architectural studio sought to blend the modern with the traditional, combining contemporary design trends with the timeless character of Cycladic architecture. The concept was inspired by the natural texture of marine stone, whose porous, honeycombed surfaces evoke the raw beauty of the Aegean landscape.

Polished cement was chosen as the primary material for both floors and walls, creating a seamless, continuous surface and a sense of harmonic cohesion throughout the interior.

Drawing from this element, we aimed to merge the rigidity of stone with the curved motion of waves and the spontaneous construction lines typical of the Cycladic vernacular. Every feature within the space follows soft, elastic curves — from the built-in bar and flowing wooden stands to the sculpted shelving that echoes the sea’s rhythm.
